Friends of Wisconsin State Parks (FWSP) is a nonprofit umbrella organization dedicated to preserving, protecting, promoting and enhancing Wisconsin's state parks, forests, trails and recreation areas. Established in 1996, we work in partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and over 60 local Friends Groups across the state.

Our Mission

Our mission is to enhance the Wisconsin State Park experience and cultivate stewardship by:
  • Preserving natural and cultural resources
  • Promoting outdoor recreation and education
  • Protecting park lands for future generations
  • Enhancing visitor experiences through volunteer efforts and fundraising

What We Do

  • Provide grants to local Friends Groups for park improvements
  • Advocate for state park funding and policies
  • Organize the annual FWSP photo contest
  • Offer resources and workshops to local Friends Groups
  • Advocate and educate for Wisconsin State Parks
  • Raise awareness through our website, social media, and newsletters
